When I stare into the night sky
It'll stare back into me
Then the night, when looking down
Can see into eternity
An eyeshot straight into the trench
The endless strait of murky water that
Reflects the glitter of the emptiness
The diamonds in the sky, and what I miss
The image, burned like a lantern flame
Begins to fluctuate and fade away
The tiny molecules of waking life
Begin to separate, until I see
The world beneath where atoms flash
Past a chasm, through an endless gap
Where nothing sticks, nothing seems to last
Vacancy defines the perfect map
Diary, today I come to you
To ask that you serve as my memory
Because the images are slipping now
The time has come for me to be bereaved
