Eric Clapton - The Breeze: An Appreciation Of JJ Cale Lyrics

Call Me The Breeze

[ Originally by JJ Cale ]

They call me the breeze, I keep blowing down the road
They call me the breeze, I keep blowing down the road
I ain't got me nobody, I ain't carrying me no load

Ain't no change in the weather, ain't no change in me
Ain't no change in the weather, ain't no change in me
I ain't hidin' from nobody, ain't nobody hidin' from me

I got that green light, babe, I got to keep moving on
I got that green light, babe, I got to keep moving on
I might go out to California, might go to Georgia, I don't know

They call me the breeze, I keep blowing down the road
They call me the breeze, I keep blowing down the road
I ain't got me nobody, I ain't carrying me no load

Call me the breeze

Rock And Roll Records

(feat. Tom Petty)

I make rock 'n' roll records
I sell 'em for a dime
I make my living and feed my children
All in good time
The blues they go for a quarter
Guaranteed to satisfy
It's a real funky deal
Don't let it pass you by
If your evening sun don't shine, my friend
Tell you what I'm gonna do I'm gonna hammer out this rhythm
Till I get right next to you

Someday

(feat. Mark Knopfler)

Someday she'll be here, that's a fact
Someday, she'll be coming right back
Maybe I'm dreaming
I hope it's not so, but
Someday she's comin' back I know
You know I'm ready, to see her again
When that someday will never end

When she left with no goodbye
I was stuck with those lonely nights
You know what I mean, it's always the same
Ain't no medicine for that kind of pain
Someday comes and goes away
Bringing me a better day

(Guitar Solo)

Ain't no pity, ain't no shame
I hope that someday will come again
Maybe I'm dreaming
I hope it's not so
Somedays' comin', It's comin' I know

Maybe I'm dreaming
I hope it's not so
Somedays' comin', It's comin' I know

Lies

(feat. John Mayer)

You told me this, you told me that
You try to tell me, tell me where it's at
You said you loved me, I can see through that
Lies, lies, lies

You left me hangin', hangin' from a limb
You said you loved me, then you left with him
Lord, you did it to me, I see it in your eyes
Lies, lies, lies

Tell me baby, why you take my time
You get a thrill off playing with my mind
Lord, you did it to me, I see it in your eyes
Lies, lies, lies

Sensitive Kind

(feat. Don White)

Don't take her for granted
She has a hard time
Don't misunderstand her
Or play with her mind
Treat her so gently
It will pay you in time
You've got to know
She's the sensitive kind
Tell her you love her
Each and every night
You will discover
She will treat you right
If you believe
I know you will find
There ain't nothing like
The sensitive kind
She gets so lonely
Waiting for you
You are the only
Thing to help her through
Don't take her for granted
She has a hard time
You've got to know
She's the sensitive kind

Cajun Moon

Cajun moon, where does your power lie
As you move across the southern sky
You took my babe way too soon
What have you done, Cajun moon
Someday babe, when you want your man
And you find him gone, just like the wind
Don't trouble your mind whatever you do
'Cause Cajun moon took him from you
When daylight fades, the night comes on
You can hear the silence of this song
Don't trouble your mind whatever you do
'Cause he got me like he got you

Magnolia

(feat. John Mayer)

Whippoorwill's singing
Soft summer breeze
Makes me think of my baby
I left down in New Orleans
I left down in New Orleans
Magnolia, you sweet thing
You're driving me mad
Got to get back to you, babe
You're the best I ever had
You're the best I ever had
You whisper "Good morning"
So gently in my ear
I'm coming home to you, babe
I'll soon be there
I'll soon be there

I Got The Same Old Blues

(feat. Tom Petty)

Have you heard that rumour that's going around
You got it made, way across town
It's the same old story, tell me where does it end
Yes, I heard the news, it's the same old blues again
When I wrote you a letter, you must have read it wrong
I stood at your doorway, but you was gone
I took a lot of courage and let the telephone ring
It's the same old blues, same old blues again
When you give me the business, you know I get a mind
'Cause I've got a lot of patience and I've got a lot of time
It's the same old story, tell me where does it end
It's the same old blues, same old blues again
I'm gonna find me a mountain, I'm gonna hide out
I ain't talking to you and I ain't coming out
Yeah, I heard that rumour, tell me where does it end
It's the same old blues, same old blues again

Songbird

(feat. Willie Nelson)

For you, there'll be no more crying,
For you, the sun will be shining,
And I feel that when I'm with you,
It's alright, I know it's right

To you, I'll give the world
To you, I'll never be cold
'Cause I feel that when I'm with you,
It's alright, I know it's right.

And the songbirds are singing,
Like they know the score,
And I love you, I love you, I love you,
Like never before.

And I wish you all the love in the world,
But most of all, I wish it from myself.
And the songbirds keep singing,
Like they know the score,
And I love you, I love you, I love you,
Like never before, like never before.

Since You Said Goodbye

Rain keep fallin' on my head
Sun keep burnin' out my eyes
Lord the moon he knows I'm blue
It's all because of you
Ever since you said goodbye

Black cloud hangin' over me
I just can't seem to do it right
Lord the wind it never blows
The river never flows
Ever since you said goodbye

Sunny days have come and gone
Heaven knows I'm here cryin'
Lord the moon he knows I'm blue
All because of you
Ever since you said goodbye

I'll Be There (If You Ever Want Me)

There ain't no chains strong enough to hold me
Ain't no breeze big enough to slow me
I never have seen a river that's too wide

There ain't no jail tight enough to lock me
Ain't no man big enough to stop me
I'll be there if you ever want me by your side

There ain't no rope stout enough to bind me
Look for me, honey, you will find me
Any old time, you're ready with your charms

I'll be there ready and a-waitin'
There won't be any hesitatin'
I'll be there if you ever want me in your arms

Love me, if you're ever gonna love me
I never have seen a road too rough to ride

There ain't no chain strong enough to hold me
Ain't no breeze big enough to slow me
I'll be there if you ever want me by your side

Love me, if you're ever gonna love me
I never have seen a road too rough to ride

There ain't no chains strong enough to hold me
Ain't no breeze big enough to slow me

The Old Man And Me

(feat. Tom Petty)

The old man he catches the fish in the morning
He rides the river every day
I sit on the bank and I holler when he passes
"Hey, old man, are they biting today"
I wake up in the morning, thinking 'bout my troubles
I go down to the water and they pass away
And when the old man comes a-floating down the river
"Hey, old man, are they biting today"
Now here we've got a thing that keeps on rolling
It ain't heavy, don't take it that way
The old man and me, we got a good thing going
He gets his fish and I sit all day
He gets his fish and I sit all day

Train To Nowhere

(feat. Mark Knopfler and Don White)

You can catch it if you want to ride
Don't you worry if it pass you by
You can catch it if you want to ride
Don't you worry if it pass you by

Lord you know the reason why
On this train till I die
Train I ride goes to God knows where
I don't know and I don't care

Train I ride goes to God knows where
I don't know and I don't care
If you ain't got money don't despair
'Cause you don't have to pay no fare

Please now brother don't you ride this train
Ride the wrong rails, live your life in vain
Please now brother don't you ride this train
Ride the wrong rails, live your life in vain

Starbound

When you and I are ready
No longer earthly-bound
We'll travel through the crystal night, starbound
Heaven holds a mystery
Wrapped inside a sound
Through the eyes of endless time, starbound, you and I
A floating star is what we are
Suspended in space
Outward-bound it's the only home we've found
To save the human race
Speed is now their captain
Kings that lost their crowns
Motion is our master
Starbound
Starbound
Starbound

Dont Wait

[ Originally by J.J. Cale ]

Don't wait
Don't wait
Don't wait for the good times to come
We got 'em right here, we're on the run
Don't wait
Don't wait

I'm going back
I'm going back
Going way back, back in time
Another place, another mind
I'm going back
I'm going back

Walk on
Walk on
Walk on straight ahead
Don't look around, don't turn your head
Walk on
Walk on

Fly away
Fly away
Fly away, away with me
I never been so flying free
Fly away
Fly away

Bye bye
Bye bye
Please don't ever say
You're leaving me, you're going away
Bye bye
Bye bye

Crying Eyes

It ain't easy
Drying these crying eyes of mine
It ain't easy
Drying these crying eyes of mine

I get so lonely, lonely, lonely
It ain't easy
Drying these crying eyes of mine

What can you do
When those tears make you blind?
What can you do
When those tears make you blind?

I get so lonely, lonely, lonely
What can you do
When those tears make you blind?

I get so lonely, lonely, lonely
What can you do
With these crying eyes of mine?
