I flew over Egypt today
God like not on wings
Of aeroplane and saw
The pyramids not
I could have been in
Bangalore because
The shutters were drawn
The windows shrouded
The air conditioned
Hidden from the sun
And eating plastic
Watching movies of
Hollywood interpretation
Understanding mountains
And fertile valleys
Cleaving barren minds
And blood red pastures
Today I flew over Palestine
Borrowing patches of sand
And zigzag trackways
Leading the sighted back
To the gathering blind
And scale gives scope
To death and bones are
Bleaching legendary
Warriors are born
And cloud banks filter
Scattered settlements
Clinging to tradition
Hanging on to tales self
Defined by contradiction
Cliffs and tufted powder
Scooped and scalloped
Boundary lines and
Billows of clouds stealing
Rain from the oceans
