When you wake up
I won't be next to you
I really hope the version of the story you're given is true
I'll give you everything from my perspective
Trying not to use fallacies, or be selective
I will do my best to stay objective
Avoiding over embellishments and being too expressive
In the last few moments before you left
I laid beside you and wept
While you slept, I had my head on your chest
And I remember your heartbeat was faster than I'd expect
Maybe you were responding to some part of your dream
But I recall you talking in your sleep and saying some things to me
Most of it was gibberish and didn't make sense
And though I stayed quiet, my emotions were intense
I just kept stroking your hair and saying I love you
And through all your words, you said I love you, too
It'll only be 30 days, is what I was told
Without you here, this bed is really f*cking cold
