Ink scrapes the page
The words seem to fade
I'm rewriting lines so that I can see
The thoughts inside that say that I want to leave
I won't believe
The lies that repeat when I'm on this beat
Gas fueled to flame that sings
That I'm not enough
That's what I've always told myself
And I believe why it's burning up
The rock that I had
Just slipped from my hand
Disintegrated everything I had in the pad
Into tiny pieces and granules of sand
No matter how painful I am
Still proud of me
For being what's best
A better version of me
Thinking that I'm less
And then I'm learning to be.
Paint the far side dark
I'ma take the car off park
Until I'm carving tar
Oh, dying pen I plead to you
Let the ink flood the page like I'm used to
If there's more to be seen let them flow out
Oh, dying pen just hear me now
Caught between reality and a dream
Is this really living? is everything as it seems?
Are they really jeans if they're ripping up at the seams?
Is it just cowardice if I'm fleeing from the scene?
Another step, looking left I take a punch
Step back, look right, I'm beaten up
Crawl twice, bloody eyes, I've had enough
The fantasies I'm living are screaming I'm giving up
Ink scrapes the page
The words seem to fade
I'm rewriting lines so that I can see
The thoughts inside that say that I want to leave
I won't believe
The lies that repeat when I'm on this beat
That's what I'll keep on telling myself
Even when the world just falls apart
I know that I left you all of my heart
But it's up to you to find
Oh, dying pen I plead to you
Let the ink flood the page like I'm used to
If there's more to be seen let them flow out
Oh, dying pen just hear me now
I'm not afraid of love
I'm not afraid of love
I can't be hurt again
I can't be hurt again
I'm not afraid of love
I'm not afraid of love
I can't be hurt again
I can't be hurt again
