The big tree out the front of my house, the local council want to cut it right back
Something to do with the new overhead cables, and 'cause the pavement is starting to crack

This is the tree that I grew up climbing, the same tree where I once rescued a cat
It was there before the pavement and cables, and in my lifetime it could never grow back

Going to write to y local council, make sure they know that what they're doing is wrong
And then I'll write to my local paper, and see if they'll get a reporter along

And if the yellow men with chainsaws, pull the truck up out the front of my house
I think they'll want to call a smoko, before they deal with a tree with a mouth
