The hottest stars will burn the brightest
The heat we sense they radiate
And although, we feel their glow
We don't know
Their lives' the loudest scream of pain
And in this world, its cruel to be a rockstar
The fire burns and churns that drives them all insane
They may shine brightly on the stage
But when they're living day to day
They see a rat trapped within a cage
That you create
I can't feel myself in this maze
It's a burning
It's a crime
Rejected left behind
I feel its all a lie
They tell me, "You just got to smile and sign"
It slowly grows a hole inside their soul
Many of them don't live to see three decades
As we know, most have brought themselves to overdose
I can't imagine the hardships that must take
And some unlucky ones leave songs unsung because of guns
And thanks to Ron...
We've lost so many to AIDS
You leave them beaten, abused, and scared
A life unseemly hard is sealed as their fate
All they are, just T-shirts on the store wall
For some pennies and dimes we exploit their lives
Gentrified and deified
Glorified
What will it take
