Civic duty and justice
We live by chance and consequences
That obliterate our defenses.
You say that's just the human condition?
Well, tell it to the next generation.
We do have a chance
And it's not by happenstance.
It's called our civic duty
To be a voice of reality
Even when the smart money
Is betting on insanity.
Our parents knew it well
Because they had witnessed their world go to hell
And they had barely managed
To pull their fat out of the fire but with damage
From which they learned that civic duty and justice
Are words that have some importance.
Now our parents got this
And we're getting to relearn it.
We're getting to relearn it.
We're getting to relearn it.
