Down south Alabama
I could write a sonnet on the trees
Born in California
Suddenly I know what beauty means
I think love would be like this
Take a chance on the unknown green
I like to think they'd write a sonnet
If someone took a chance on me
Californians love the beach
But say it's cold waiting for July
Lovin's scary so we wait
Betting on a neon sign
I think the cold's refreshing
You'd never know until you try
Sure I love being alone
With the warmth of July in the back of my mind
Can't learn to breathe underwater
Solitude is sweet so why bother
Uncomforted ego most of my life
It's a silly thing to want and not try
Plane leaves tomorrow do I take it or not
Love to be alone in the safety of the dark
Down south Alabama
I have written sonnets on the trees
Back in California
I was looking for beauty
I don't know if love's like this
I'm too scared of the risk
If my greenery permits
I think they would write sonnets
