Waking up in the Nevada Desert, after being beaten and left to die under the sun
I saw her silhouette against the rising sun, coming from the east
Rapped in white clothes that shuffled with the wind
A wind that didn't really exist
It wasn't until she was a few inches away that her face came into focus
She kneeled next to me and gave me water from a bota bag she had with her
Just a few drops
I could smell the dry blood stuck to my face
Burned to her touch
I was thirsty and wanted more water, but I was to get no more
She cared for my wounds with ointments she carried with her
Then she got up and walked towards the now setting sun
It wasn't until I was finally out of danger and resting in a hospital in Lund
When I realized what she had done for me
How with just a few drops of water and her caring touch, she had saved my life
It was also here that I found out the story of Lady Maria 'La Solitaria'
The one who gave her life, her last few drops of life, to a dying man in the desert
And who was found dead on her way to Lund
