How many days have passed
Since a taste has hit his tongue
And the craving has been sated
Too weak to venture far
Yet what's near has been expended
This cruelest irony
Nearly draws a simper
Though the ache is nearly all-consuming
A thought claws forth from the blackest depths
A prolonged shudder as he allows the concept
To take shape in his conscious mind
Retching at his intention
He sees no recourse
For he is now the hunter
He embraces the fear
Of what's most would deem inhuman
There is no shortage of prey
He just chose not to see
As he fights what he has learned
Instinct takes over
Apprehension wears away
In favor of a new obsession
No longer suppressing the inclination
To find relief in a companion's flesh
But this is far from carnal indulgence
To partake a newfound destiny
Those who evolve prevail
If this desire is inhuman
Is this his evolution
