Hell's Kitchen Musical Lyrics

Maleah Joi Moon - The Elevator Prologue

I'm safe and I'm suffocating
We live in Manhattan Plaza which is cheap housing for artists
Which means almost everyone who lives here is an artist
Which means
You never know what you're gonna hear when these elevator doors open up

Yeah thats Mr Gordon 32nd floor, forever on his trumpet
And watch, its going to open on 27th
Panera sisters are always having their dance class I swear
Like somehow every hour of the day
And I kind of hope its going to open on 17
I mean I do always like 17

(opera singing)

Yeah, I got no idea who that is or what they're saying
But, but I think they're in love
And then 9 is the poets, 8 is the painters
We got that whole string section, right on 7, 7, 6, 5 and 4

And when you hit that ground floor, piano
Always piano

Maleah Joi Moon - The Gospel

[ Featuring Shoshana Bean, Chris Lee ]

I said we're all God's children,
Products of the ghetto
Momma cooked the soup,
Daddy did the yelling
Uncle was a drunk,
Cousin was a felon
When he got pinched,
He told them he wasn't tellin'
Auntie was a cook,
Her husband was a crook
Cause every job he had
They be payin' him off the books
Ghetto University,
Knowledge is all it took
In the tenement I was listenin' to the hook
Change gon' come,
The spirit of Sam Cooke
When the Feds coming,
Everybody be shook
Now we doing life like Eddie Murphy and Martin
On the chain gang,
I was singing into the coffin

The roaches and the rats,
Heroin and the crasp
Couldn't blame me,
I'm just giving the facts
Tryna hit the top,
The bottom ain't where it's at
Everybody got a path but you could never go back

Oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Sing yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Sing yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Sing yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Sing yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

I'm telling you like it is,
How we ever gon' live?
If we ain't gettin' money,
How we feedin' the kids?
It's a revolving door,
When brothers be doing bids
I know it sound wrong but the dope'll be what it is
Survival of the fittest,
This poor girl the illest
Broke mirrors and black cats give me heebie-geebies
Life seems hard, nothing ever comes easy
Whatever's in the dark,
Won't always become the light
If you ain't in a battle,
How you gon' win the fight?
Gotta speak the truth
When I'm up in the booth
The streets be flyin' birds
But they don't be on the roof
Poverty is a pain like you pulling a tooth
Told the streets don't let me go
Like I'm bishop and juice

The roaches and the rats,
Heroin and the cracks
Couldn't blame me,
I'm just giving the facts
Tryna hit the top,
The bottom ain't where it's at
Everybody got a path
But you could never go back

Oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Sing yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Sing yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Sing yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Sing yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh
(Sing)
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
(Sing)
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
(Gotta sing)
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
(She's a king)
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah (yeah)
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah (yeah)
And they sing New York City
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Maleah Joi Moon - The River

[ Featuring Hell’s Kitchen Cast ]

I'm alone in a corner of a one -room apartment
Dirty windows let the light in through my fingers
And make patterns on the carpet
Heavy footsteps on the ceiling
And the sirens in the distance
Drowning sound of plain children
I'm alone here in a crowd of seven million
I know there's more to life than this
Cause something's calling me

So I follow the river
So I follow the river
And I'm gonna catch the wind
Cause I'm dying to begin
So I follow the river
So I follow the river

There's a heartbeat out in these streets
Yeah, there's a bonfire that's set alight inside me
There's no money that can stop me
Watch how strong I wanna be
When they said I could be
I know there's more to life than this
Cause something's calling me

So I follow the river
So follow the river
And I'm gonna catch a wind
Cause I'm dying to begin
So follow the river
So follow the river
So follow the river

I know there's more to life than this
Cause something's calling me

Shoshana Bean - Seventeen

[ Featuring Hell's Kitchen Cast ]

It's not Cole, Ray. It's Facts. And it's not just her. It's all of them. They're babies and grown -up bodies. They're hormones and hoodies. But the rest of them are not my responsibility. She is...

She's 17.
And her brain just don't work.

Come on now, Jersey.

That's enough, Ray. Thank you so much.

Just 17. And she's a piece of work.

I know I did some dumb stuff when I was her age.

No. She's sassy, kinda nasty, got me feeling bad.
He gave my nerves a rag and I get like you bad money.
She was smacked, don't make me send a packing door.
She's just 17.
And her brain just don't work.

We all made mistakes when we were young.

Speak for yourself, I was an angel.

She's 17. And her brain just don't work. Thank you.
Just 17. And she acts like a jerk.

I think you're right about those hormones.

She got me going local.
I'm never gonna force her.
Put her in a choco.
Dammit, it's not the mojo.
I'm a friend, I phone her.
Gonna watch her blow.
She's just 17. And her brain just don't work.

Mira, with my kids.

Un chancletazo y se acabó.

Think she knows it all.
She don't know nothing.
All that's at stake, she can risk.
I once was her, so I tried to stop it.
She's about to step in some shit.

She'll feel the heat in the kitchen.
Somebody is about to go missing.
It's just your own and estrogen.
Bad combination. She don't ever listen.

No. She's sassy, kinda nasty, got me feeling bad.
He gave my nerves a rag and I get like you bad money.
She was smacked, don't make me send a packing door.

She got me going local.
I'm never gonna force her.
Put her in a choco.
Dammit, it's not the mojo.
I'm a friend, I phone her.
Gonna watch her blow.

She's just 17.
And her brain just don't work.

Maleah Joi Moon - You Don't Know My Name

[ Featuring Vanessa Ferguson, Jackie Leon ]

Baby, baby, baby
From the day I saw you
I really, really wanted to catch your eye
Somethin' special 'bout you
I must really like you
'Cause not a lot of guys are worth my time, oh
Ooh, baby, baby, baby
It's getting kind of crazy
'Cause you are taking over my mind

And it feels like, ooh
You don't know my name
I swear, it feels like, ooh
You don't know my name
('Round and 'round and 'round we go,
Will you ever know?)

Oh, baby, baby, baby
I see us on our first date
You're doing everything that makes me smile
And when we had our first kiss
It happened on a Thursday
Ooh, it set my soul on fire
Ooh, baby, baby, baby
I can't wait for the first time
My imagination's running wild

It feels like, ooh
You don't know my name
And I swear it, baby, it feels like, ooh
You don't know my name
('Round and 'round and 'round we go,
Will you ever know?)

I'm sayin',
He don't even know what he's doin' to me
Got me feelin' all crazy inside
I'm feelin' like, oh
Doing more than I've ever done
For anyone's attention
Take notice of what's in front of you
'Cause did I mention (oh)
You bout' to miss a good thing?
And you'll never know how good it feels
To have all of my affection
And you'll never get a chance
To experience my lovin' (oh)
'Cause my lovin' feels like

Ooh
You don't know my name
('Round and 'round and 'round we go)
And I swear (will you ever know?)
It feels like
Ooh
You don't my name
('Round and 'round and 'round we go) oh
(Will you ever know?)

Will you ever know it?
No, no, no, no, no
No, no
Will you ever know it?

Well, I'ma have to just go 'head and call this boy
Hello?
Can I speak to, to Michael?
Oh hey, how you doing?
Uh, I feel kinda silly doing this, but, uh
This is the waitress
From the coffee house on 39th and Lennox
You know, the one with the braids?
Yeah, well, I see you on Wednesdays all the time
You come in every Wednesday on your lunch break, I think
And you always order the special with the hot chocolate
My manager be tripping and stuff
Talking 'bout we gotta use water but
I always use some milk and cream for you 'cause
I think you're kinda sweet
Anyway, you always got on some fly blue suit
And your cuff links are shining all bright
So, what you do? Oh, word?
Yeah, that's interesting
Look, man, I mean,
I don't wanna waste your time, but
I know girls don't usually do this
But I was wondering if maybe we could get together
Outside the restaurant one day?
You know 'cause
I do look a lot different outside my work clothes and
I mean, we could just go across the street
To the park right here
Wait, hold up, my, my cell phone breaking up, hold up
Can you hear me now? Yeah
So, what day did you say?
Oh, yeah, Thursday's perfect, man

And it feels like ooh
You don't know my name
('Round and 'round and 'round we go) baby
(Will you ever know?)
Baby, I swear, it's like, ooh
But you don't know my name
('Round and 'round and 'round we go,
Will you ever know?) No, no, no
And it feels like, ooh
But you don't know my name
('Round and 'round and 'round we go,
Will you ever know?)
And I swear on my mother
And father it feels like, ooh
You don't know my name
('Round and 'round and 'round we go,
Will you ever know?)

Maleah Joi Moon - Miss Liza Jane Plays Piano for The First Time

[ALI, spoken]
And then
She walks in
And she starts to play
Uh- and-
I start to leave, because
I am not supposed to be in here but
But I listen
And I start to think, i-
Maybe I am
Supposed to be here
I can't stop watching
She's just playing the piano but it doesn't feel like she's just
Just playin' the piano
She sits perfectly still, I mean her body is, is calm like I've never seen a body before, but her fingers
Her fingers fly
With purpose and with certainty, and with the clarity of complete control and I see in her
For the first time in my life, I think
Would I might someday be
Powerful
Regal, a
A queen

Maleah Joi Moon - Kaleidoscope (Ali's Version)

[ Featuring Hell’s Kitchen Cast ]

I walked into this room cold, and- and wet and furious but now
Nah
None of that matters
I knew something had been... callin' me, and
I think it might be her
I think it might be this

Kaleido-leido-leido-leido-leidoscope
Tonight is shining bright, you know
Oh yeah, oh no
So light it, light it, light it, light it, light it up
Put it in the air and let it go
Oh yeah, oh no
Can you feel the love now?
I'm feelin' a buzz now
Never gonna come down
Piece it all together
Nights like this, they belong in the Guinness
Nights like this, never want them to finish
Don't wait for the end, let's start a beginning
Better to be alive than just to be living
Na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na
Na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na
Kaleido-leido-leido-leido-leidoscope
Everyone looking

High and low

Oh yeah, oh no
You're movin', movin', movin', movin'

Way too slow

I think I got that

Antidote

Oh yeah, oh no, huh

Can you feel the love now?
I'm feelin' a buzz now
Never wanna come down

Piece it all together

Nights like this, they belong in the Guinness
Nights like this, never want them to finish
Don't wait for the end, let's start a beginning
Better to be alive than just to be living

Na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na

Ooh, ooh-ooh

Na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na

Ooh, ooh-ooh

Don't wait for the end, let's start a beginning
Ooh, ooh, ooh-no-no

Ooh-ooh-ooh

Ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh

Ooh-ooh-ooh

Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, oh-oh-oh

Ooh-ooh-ooh

Yeah

Ah-ah-ah-ah

You just open up your eyes
Don't let the colors fool you, baby
It's been inside you all this time, ooh
Feel so good when it's all out

All out

Wanna do the (?) 'til the sun's out

Sun's out

Baby, I'm ready for the fallout

Fallout

I don't know what to say, ay-ay

It's a kaleidoscope
I see your colors, baby

Oh yeah

Make a kaleidoscope
With all your colors

I don't know what to say

It's a kaleidoscope
I see your colors, baby

No

Make a kaleidoscope
With all your colors

Baby

It's a kaleidoscope
I see your colors, baby

Ooh, I see your colors, baby

Make a kaleidoscope
With all your colors

Mm, oh yeah, baby

It's a kaleidoscope
I see your colors, baby

Oh oh

Make a kaleidoscope

Oh oh, oh oh

With all your colors

Oh oh

It's a kaleidoscope

I see your colors baby

I see your colors baby

Make a kaleidoscope

Baby baby

With all your colors

Baby baby, yeah

It's a kaleidoscope
I see your colors baby
Make a kaleidoscope
With all your colors

Don't a-wait for the end, let's start a beginning

Chris Lee - Gramercy Park

Are you gonna see me when light gets dark?
The sun goes down over Gramercy Park
And it's become easy to hide pieces away
Making up someone in the hope that you'll stay

'Cause I've been trying to be everything
I think you want me to be
I've been doing all the things
That I think you wanna see
I've been trying to fulfill
You with your every need
Now you falling for a person that's not even me
Said you falling for a person that's not even me
(Give me the beat)

Now you falling for a person that's not even me

Don't get me wrong,
I wasn't out to deceive
I like the attention with your eyes on me
The trouble with the truth is it's so hard to believe
Now here I stand with my heart on my sleeve

And I've been trying to be everything
I think you want me to be
I've been doing all the things
That I think you wanna see
I've been trying to fulfill
You with your every need
Now you falling for a person that's not even me
Said you falling for a person that's not even me
(Give me the beat)

Now you falling for a person that's not even me
Now you falling for a person that's not even me
'Cause I forgot about the person that I used to be

Brandon Victor Dixon - Not Even The King

Money
Some people so poor,
All that they've got is money
Oh, and diamonds
Some people waste
Their life counting their thousands

I don't care what they're offering
How much gold they bring
They can't afford what we've had
Not even the king
They can't afford what we've got
Not even the king

Oh, castles
Some people so lonely,
What good is a castle
Surrounded by people?
But ain't got a friend
That's not on the payroll

Oh, and I don't care what they bring
They can have everything
They can't afford what we've got
Not even the king
They can't afford what we've got
Not even the king

All the king's horses and all the king's men
Came charging to get what we got
They offered the crown
And they offered the throne
But I already got all that I want

All the king's horses and all the king's men
They came marching through
They offered the world just to have what we got
But I found the world in you
I found the world in you

So darling, listen
Your arms around me worth more than a kingdom
Yeah, believe that
The trust that we feel the kings never felt that

Yeah, this is the song we sing
We don't need anything
They can't afford this
This is priceless

Can't afford what we've got
Not even the king
Can't afford what we've got
Not even the king

Shoshana Bean - Teenage Love Affair

[ Featuring Hell’s Kitchen Cast ]

Uh, can't wait to get home
Baby, dial your number
Can you pick up the phone?
'Cause I wanna holla
Daydreaming about you all day in school,
Can't concentrate
Wanna have your voice in my ear
'Til mama comes and says it's too late

'Cause the lights are on outside
Wish there was somewhere to hide
'Cause I just don't want to say goodbye
'Cause you are my baby, baby

Nothing really matters
I don't really care
What nobody tell me
I'm gonna be here
It's a matter of extreme importance
My first teenage love affair

Another secret meeting
On the fifth floor stair case
I'm gonna give you this letter
Of all the things I can't say
Want you to be my first, my last,
My ending and beginning, yeah
I wrote your name in my book
Your last name, my first
I'm your Mrs

'Cause the lights are on outside
Wish there was somewhere to hide
'Cause I just don't want to say goodbye
'Cause you are my baby, baby

Nothing really matters
I don't really care
What nobody tell me
I'm gonna be here
It's a matter of extreme importance
My first teenage love affair

Hey boy
You know I really like being with you, right?
Just hanging out with you is fun

So maybe we can go to first base
Because I feel you
Second base
Want you to feel me too
Third base
Better pump the breaks
Well baby, slow down
I gotta go home now

'Cause the lights are on outside (Outside)
Wish there was somewhere to hide (To hide)
'Cause I just don't want to say goodbye
'Cause you are my baby, baby

Nothing really matters
I don't really care
What nobody tell me
I'm gonna be here
It's a matter of extreme importance

Maleah Joi Moon - Unthinkable (I’m Ready)

[ Featuring Chris Lee ]

Moment of honesty
Someone's gotta take the lead tonight,
Who's it gonna be?
I'm gonna sit right here
And tell you all that comes to me
If you have something to say,
You should say it right now
(You should say it right now)

You give me a feeling
That I never felt before
And I deserve it,
I think I deserve it
It's becoming something
That's impossible to ignore
And I can't take it

I was wondering maybe,
Could I make you my baby?
If we do the unthinkable,
Would it make us look crazy?
If you ask me, I'm ready (I'm ready)
If you ask me, I'm ready (I'm ready)

I know you said to me
This is exactly how it should feel
When it's meant to be
Time is only wasting,
So why wait for eventually?
If we gonna do something about it,
We should do it right now
(We should do it right now)

You give me a feeling
That I never felt before
And I deserve it,
I know I deserve it
It's becoming something
That's impossible to ignore
It is what we make it

I was wondering maybe,
Could I make you my baby?
If we do the unthinkable,
Would it make us look crazy?
Or would it be so beautiful?
Either way, I'm saying
If you ask me, I'm ready
If you ask me, I'm ready

Yeah, yeah
Saying
Why give up before we try?
Feel the lows before the highs
Clip our wings before we fly away
I can't say, I can't compare
I'm suspended in the air
Won't you come be in the sky with me?

I was wondering maybe,
Could I make you my baby?
If we do the unthinkable,
Would it make us look crazy?
Or would it be so beautiful?
Either way, I'm saying
If you ask me, I'm ready (I'm ready)
If you ask me, I'm ready (I'm ready)

Kecia Lewis - You Play These Notes

[ Featuring Maleah Joi Moon ]

Are you teaching me how to play piano right now?
In the face of great resistance yes
OK so what do I do?
You stop talking and you play these notes
And then you move your fingers here
Not your head just your fingers
And you play these notes
Good
That's it?
You're talking again
Play these notes
Then you play these notes
Then you play these notes
Then you play these notes
And you play them again and again until I tell you to stop
We begin at the beginning
We master the basics
Over time these basics lead to something more complex

Woah
Then you play these notes
And you play these notes
Then you play these notes
And you play these notes

And from these basics, the melody can evolve
Ooh! ha-ha
I don't even know what the melody can evolve means
But shoot, I feel the melody evolve

And you play these notes
And you play these notes

And she shifts again
And I feel tradition, and culture, and for the first time, maybe ever
I feel like I'm a part of something bigger than me.
I feel like I make sense
And I'm not doing half of what she's doing
But without what I'm doing, this song, wouldn't be this song

Jackie Leon - Girl On Fire

[ Featuring Vanessa Ferguson, Chris Lee ]

She's just a girl and she's on fire
Hotter than a fantasy
Lonely like a highway
She's livin' in a world and it's on fire
Filled with catastrophe
But she knows she can fly away

Oh, oh-oh-oh-oh
She got both feet on the ground
And she's burnin' it down
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh
She got her head in the clouds
And she's not backin' down

This girl is on fire
This girl is on fire
She's walkin' on fire
This girl is on fire

Looks like a girl, but she's a flame
So bright, she can burn your eyes
Better look the other way
You can try,
But you'll never forget her name
She's on top of the world
Hottest of the hottest girls, say

Oh, oh-oh-oh-oh
We got our feet on the ground
And we're burnin' it down
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh
Got our head in the clouds
And we're not comin' down

This girl is on fire (Fire, fire)
This girl is on fire
She's walkin' on fire (Fire, fire)
This girl is on fire

(Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh)
Everybody stares as she goes by
'Cause they can see the flame that's in her eyes
Watch her when she's lightin' up the night
Nobody knows that she's a lonely girl
And it's a lonely world
But she gon' let it burn, baby, burn, baby

This girl is on fire (Fire, fire)
This girl is on fire
She's walkin' on fire (Fire, fire)
This girl is on fire

Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh

Kecia Lewis - Perfect Way To Die

Simple walk to the corner store
Mama never thought
She would be getting a call from the coroner
Said her son's been gunned down,
Been gunned down
"Can you come now?"
Tears in her eyes, "Can you calm down?
Please, ma'am, can you calm down?"

But it rained fire in the city that day, they say
A river of blood in the streets
No love in the streets
And then came silence in the city that day, they say
Just another one gone
And they tell her move on

And she's stuck there, singing
"Baby, don't you close your eyes
This could be our final time
And you know I'm horrible at saying goodbye
And I think of all you coulda done
At least you'll stay forever young
I guess you picked the perfect way to die
Oh, I guess you picked the perfect way to die"

New job, new city, new her
Bright-eyed, you would have been proud if you knew her
Flashing lights in the mirror,
Pull over, pull over
A couple nights in detention and it's over,
A whole life's over

They came marching in the city that day, they say
Carrying signs in the streets
Crying eyes in the streets
But they heard nothing from the city that day, they say
Just another one gone
And the city moved on

We're stuck here singing
"Baby, don't you close your eyes
'Cause this could be our final time
And you know I'm horrible at saying goodbye
I'll think of all you coulda done
At least you'll stay forever young
I guess you picked the perfect way to die
Oh, I guess you picked the perfect way to die"

Another dream lost
Another king and queen lost
Another broken promise they refuse to make right
Oh, another night to live in fear
Oh, another night that you're not here
Another reason to get out there and fight

But I said, "Baby, don't you close your eyes
'Cause this could be our final time
And you know I'm horrible at saying goodbye
But I'll think of all you coulda done
At least you'll stay forever young
I guess you picked the perfect way to die
Oh, I guess you picked the perfect way..."

Maleah Joi Moon - Heartburn

Uh (oh, oh, oh)
Yeah (oh, oh, oh)

Come on
Timbo, A. Keys, let's go
Let me
Let me, let me, let me,
Let me tell you somethin'
Tell you how I feel
When he comes around
I get to feelin' ill
It's an achin' feelin'
Inside my chest
It's like I'm going in
Into cardiac arrest

Adrenaline rushin' in my body
All my power I just can't fight it
Doesn't matter how I keep on tryin'
I can't deny, I got this

Burnin' in my soul
(Heartburn) call the fire department
(Heartburn) it's out of control
(Heartburn) ooh

You got me trippin', slippin'
And beside myself
I tried some medication
But don't nothin' help
So I said doctor, doctor
Tell me, will I die?
And he said, "Count to five, Alicia"
And I'm goin' to be alright, let's go
One, two, three, four

Adrenaline rushin' in my body
All my power I just can't fight it
Doesn't matter how I keep on tryin'
I can't deny, I got this

Burnin' in my soul
(Heartburn) call the fire department
(Heartburn) it's out of control
(Heartburn) ooh

Taste so good I can't resist (whoa)
Gettin' harder to digest (whoa)
Can't take no more,
Got to shake it off (whoa)
Now break it down,
And take it to the ground with me now

Everybody say, oh
Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh

Burnin' in my soul
(Heartburn) call the fire department
(Heartburn) it's out of control
(Heartburn) whatchu tryna do

Burnin' in my soul
(Heartburn) call the fire department
(Heartburn) it's out of control
(Heartburn) ooh

Shake it, shake it, shake it, oh
Go 'head, girl
Shake it, shake it, shake it, oh
Ooh, ooh, ooh
Shake it, shake it, shake it, oh
Go 'head, girl
Shake it, shake it, shake it, oh
Ooh, ooh, ooh

Go 'head, girl
Ooh, ooh, ooh

Shoshana Bean - Love Looks Better

[ Featuring Hell’s Kitchen Cast ]

All I, all I ever wanted
Was a dollar and a chance
Find, find what I'm made of
Alright
Coming, coming from the bottom
Better learn how to dance
Find, find what you're made of
Alright

Feel like my love is wasting
Every day, yeah
Get so damn tired of chasing
Every day, yeah
And now it's you I'm missing
Every day, yeah
Every day, yeah
Every day

So can we talk for a minute?
Stop for a minute?
All I wanna do is you
Oh, can we touch for a second?
Be us for a second?
Don't matter what I give it to
My love looks better on you

My love looks better on you
Promise you, baby
Promise you, baby
Hold up

All I, all I ever wanted
Was a city and some keys
Run, run through the street now
Alright

And now it's you I'm missing
Every day, yeah
Every day, yeah
Every day

So can we talk for a minute?
Stop for a minute?
All I wanna do is you
Oh, can we touch for a second?
Be us for a second?
Don't matter what I give it to
My love looks better on you

Promise you, baby

You're all I ever wanted
You're all I ever wanted
So can we talk for a minute?
Just stop for a minute
'Cause all I wanna do is you

Promise you, baby
My love looks better on you
Promise you, baby

Maleah Joi Moon - Work On It

[ Featuring Hell’s Kitchen Cast ]

Work on it
Work on it
Work on it, baby

Oh baby, some may think
That we moved too fast
But I know you and you know me
Baby, that's what makes it last
Darling, so many lies were spread about us
Oh, that's the heartache,
That's the heartache
That makes us build all the trust

I know some people like to say
That the easiest way is to fake it
We gonna make it
If we try
Gotta promise not to abuse it
If you use it, don't lose it or break it
'Cause we gonna make it
You and I

When they see us coming they'll say
Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh
When they see us coming they'll say
Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh

Some days are hard
There ain't no easy way
No matter how we try
Nobody is perfect
But if we just,
Love each other through it all
Baby now that that's,
That makes it worth it

I know some people try to say that
The easiest way is to fake it
We gonna make it
If we try
If we try
Gotta promise not to abuse it
If you use it, don't lose it or break it
We gonna make it
You and I

When they hear us coming they'll say
Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh
When they hear us coming they'll say
Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh

When they feel us coming they'll say
Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh
When they feel us coming they'll say
Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh

Oh, we gonna work on it, baby
Me and you, we gonna work on it, baby

Kecia Lewis - Price, Bonds, and Scott

[MISS LIZA JANE, spoken]
You are but the latest branch on a long-standing tree
Rising triumphant from the roots of Florence Price
Margaret Bonds
Hazel Scott
We honor these roots
Our ancestors, the patriarchs, and especially the matriarchs
By keeping their legacies alive long after they' pass
And we all eventually pass

Kecia Lewis - Authors Of Forever

Where there's light, there must be a shadow
Cloudy skies and rain make a rainbow
We are builders, we are breakers
We are givers, we are takers and it's alright
We are seven billion stories
And we know the faith and glory and it's alright
We are on born on our own
And we die on our own
And we're here to make meaning
Of what happens in between
We could hate, we could love
We could doubt, we could trust
But we're here to make meanin'
For as long as we're breathin'
And it's alright
It's alright

Ali
There will come a time when you will have to do this
All this on your own
My job is to prepare you to create your own future
Your job is to get ready to write your own story

We are lost and lonely people
And we're lookin' for a reason, and it's alright
So let's celebrate the dreamers
We embrace the space between us 'cause it's alright

We're all in this boat together
And we're sailin' toward the future, and it's alright
We can make the whole thing better
We're the authors of forever and it's alright

We are on born on our own
And we die on our own
And we're here to make meaning
Of what happens in between
We could hate, we could love
We could doubt, we could trust
But we're here to make meanin'
For as long as we're breathin'

And it's alright

Wherever you are it's alright
Whoever you are it's alright
Wherever you are it's alright
And if the drought hits tonight
Do not fear because you and I
We are like water
Like water, made to survive
And if the drought hits tonight
Do not fear because you and I
We are like water
Like water

Made to survive

Brandon Victor Dixon - Fallin'

I keep on fallin'

I keep on fallin'
In and out of love
With you
Sometimes I love ya
Sometimes you make me blue
Sometimes I feel good
At times I feel used
Lovin' you darlin'
Makes me so confused

I keep on fallin' in and out
Of love with you
I never loved someone
The way that I love you

Oh, oh, I never felt this way
How do you give me so much pleasure
And cause me so much pain? (Yeah, yeah)
Just when I think
I've taken more than would a fool
I start fallin' back in love with you

I keep on fallin' in and out
Of love with you
I never (uh huh) loved someone (someone)
The way that I (way I) love you (uh, uh)

Oh, baby
I, I, I, I'm fallin'
I, I, I, I'm fallin'
Fall, fall, fall (sing)
Fall

I keep on fallin' in and out (out)
Of love (love) with you (with you)
I never (never) loved someone (loved)
The way that I (I) love you

I'm fallin' in and out
Of love (of love) with you (with you)
I never (no) loved someone (no, no)
The way that I (uh) love you

I'm fallin' in and out
Of love (of love) with you (with you)

Brandon Victor Dixon - If I Ain’t Got You

[ Featuring Maleah Joi Moon ]

Some people live for the fortune
Some people live just for the fame
Some people live for the power, yeah
Some people live just to play the game

Some people think
That the physical things
Define what's within
And I've been there before
That life's a bore
So full of the superficial

Some people want it all
But I don't want nothing at all
If it ain't you, baby
If I ain't got you, baby

Some people want diamond rings
Some just want everything
But everything means nothing
If I ain't got you, yeah

Some people search for a fountain
Promises forever young
Some people need three dozen roses
And that's the only way to prove you love them

Hand me the world
On a silver platter
And what good would it be?
With no one to share
With no one who truly cares for me?

Some people want it all
But I don't want nothing at all
If it ain't you, baby
If I ain't got you, baby

Some people want diamond rings
Some just want everything
But everything means nothing
If I ain't got you, you, you

Some people want it all
But I don't want nothing at all
If it ain't you, baby
If I ain't got you, baby

Some people want diamond rings
Some just want everything
But everything means nothing
If I ain't got you, yeah

If I ain't got you with me, baby

Said nothing in this whole wide world
Don't mean a thing
If I ain't got you with me, baby

Shoshana Bean - Pawn It All

[ Featuring Hell’s Kitchen Cast ]

Yeah, ah
Yeah, ah
Yeah, ah
Yeah, ah
Ah, yeah
Ah, yeah
What, ah

I would pawn you my watch
I would pawn you my chain
I would pawn you this golden diamond ring
'Cause I need it so bad
I would give you everything
Just so I could start my life over again

Sometimes you gotta let it go
Just to make it possible
Sometimes you gotta do it
Be willing to lose it
Freedom has no price, you know
Thinking how we gonna make it now
How we gonna feed the babies now
We gonna make it through it
God gonna see to it
Just get up and do it now

I would pawn you my watch (Hey)
I would pawn you my chain
I would pawn you this golden diamond ring
(I would pawn you this golden diamond ring)
'Cause I need it so bad (So bad)
I would give you everything (Yeah)
Just so I could start my life over again
(I can start all over)

Get on up (Hey)
Get on up (Hey)
Get on up (Hey)
Get on up (Hey)
Get on up

See, I learned the hard way
Now I'm doing it in my way
'Cause life is too short to fall in New York
Can't get up and get away
So I gotta let it all go
Start back from zero
'Cause I've give it up, I don't give a f*ck
'Cause love is my hero

I would pawn you my watch (Hey)
I would pawn you my chain (My chain)
I would pawn you this golden diamond ring
(Pawn you this golden ring)
'Cause I need it so bad (So bad)
I would give you everything
(Everything)
Just so I could start my life over again
(I can start all over)

I would pawn you my watch
I would pawn you my chain
I would pawn you this golden diamond ring
'Cause I need it so bad
I would give you everything
Just so I could start my life over again

Maleah Joi Moon - Like You’ll Never See Me Again

[ Featuring Chris Lee ]

If I had no more time
No more time left to be here
Would you cherish what we had?
Was I everything
That you were looking for?

If I couldn't feel your touch
And no longer were you with me
I'd be wishing you were here
To be everything that I'd be looking for

I don't wanna forget the present is a gift
And I don't wanna take for granted
Time you may have here with me
'Cause Lord only knows another day
Here's not really guaranteed

So every time you hold me
Hold me like this is the last time
Every time you kiss me
Kiss me like you'll never see me again

Every time you touch me
Touch me like this is the last time
Promise that you'll love me
Love me like you'll never see me again

How many really know what love is?
Many of you never will
Do you know until you lose it?
That it's everything that we are looking for

When I wake up in the morning
And you're beside me
I'm so thankful that I found
Everything that I've been looking for

I don't wanna forget the present is a gift
And I don't wanna take for granted
The time you may have here with me
'Cause Lord only knows another day
Here's not really guaranteed

So every time you hold me
Hold me like this is the last time
Every time you kiss me
Kiss me like you'll never see me again
Every time you touch me
Touch me like this is the last time
Promise that you'll love me
Love me like you'll never see me again

So every time you hold me
Hold me like this is the last time
Every time you kiss me
Kiss me like you'll never see me again
(Can you do that for me, baby?)

Every time you touch me
(See, we don't really know)
Touch me like this is the last time
(See every day, we never know)
Promise that you'll love me
(I want you to promise with me)
Love me like you'll never see me again
(Like you'll never see me again)

Maleah Joi Moon - When It’s All Over

[ Featuring Hell’s Kitchen Cast ]

And it feels so good
Don't you feel so good?
Talk to me

Hey, I never been this good,
Not ever, not ever
Never seen this part of me
I know that nothing last forever,
However

Oh, I'm not worried 'bout tomorrow
'Cause tomorrow may not come
And where my heart takes me I follow,
You gotta follow

When they lay me down,
Put my soul to rest
When they ask me how I spent my life
At least I got to love you
When it's all over,
When it's all said and done
When it's all over,
At least I got to love you
At least I got to love you

Hey, ask when I wanna leave
Life on legacy, me loving you,
And you loving me

Oh, I'm not worried
About tomorrow, tomorrow
All I know,
All the time we have is borrowed,
I feel no sorrow

When they lay me down,
Put my soul to rest
When they ask me how I spent my life
At least I got to love you
When it's all over,
When it's all said and done
When it's all over,
At least I got to love you
At least I got to love you

Everybody say
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey

I do nothing else, ooh
I do nothing else, ooh
At least I got to love you
At least I got to love you,
Tell 'em, baby

If I do nothing else, ooh
Don't gotta do nothing else, ooh
At least I got to love you, hey
At least I got to love you

Everybody say
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey

Everybody say
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey

Say mommy (mommy),
Say I love you
(I love you, papa)
Papa, you ready?
Can you say a (no),
How about a, a, a, a (a, a, a, a)
Good boy, what's your name? Showtime
But what's your name? Egypt

Brandon Victor Dixon - Hallelujah/Like Water

[ Featuring Kecia Lewis, Maleah Joi Moon ]

I didn't know this misalized Jane, but well, she sounds like the kind of woman that makes you want to be a better person. Now, I don't know that I personally can become a better person. That ship might have sailed, but...

I do know a little bit about how to play the piano, and I'd like to do that in her honor, if that's cool.
And I don't know, maybe there's somebody out there who wants to say something but doesn't quite have the words.
So, I guess if there's anyone out there like that, she's welcome to come on up.

Okay, I'll start.
There's a hole in my heart I will hide
I've been distraught for so long that I'm blind
Is there a place I can go where the lonely river flows
Where fear ends and faith begins

Hallelujah, hallelujah, let it be
I've been praying but I'm praying for the sin
Won't you give me a sign before I lose my mind
Hallelujah, let it be

You want in on this baby girl?

No, no I do not want in on this but I feel her
And I can imagine what she'd want me to do and just how she'd get me to do it

You know I've got you babe even on cloudy days
Into the rain you may cry
You still got the rest of your life, babe
I'll take you anywhere, just say I'll take you there
Out to the moon and the sea
Now I'm your galaxy, come to me
And if the drought hits tonight
Do not fear because you and I

We are like water, like water
Made to survive
And if the drought hits tonight
Do not fear because you and I
We're part of each other, like water
You've given me life

We are part of each other, like water
Please forgive me for my sins

Let me in
And if the drought hits tonight
Do not fear because you and I
We are like water, like water
Made to survive
And if the drought hits tonight
Do not fear because you and I
We are like water

We're part of each other
Like water
You've given me life

Shoshana Bean - No One

I'm sorry he's not here
I'm sorry Knuck's not here, I'm sorry
I'm sorry Miss Liza Jane is not here

Ma... you're here
You've always been here
Um...
Thank you

I just want you
Close
Where you can stay forever
You can be sure
That it will only get better
You and me together
Through the days and nights
I don't worry 'cause
Everything's gonna be alright
And people keep talking
They can say what they like
But all I know is everything's gonna be alright
'Cause no one, no one, no one
Can get in the way of what I'm feelin'

And no one, no one, no one
Can get in the way of what I feel for you

You
You, you
Can get in the way of what I feel

When the rain is pouring down
And my heart is hurting
You will always be around, round

Mm-hm

This I know for certain

You and me together
Through the days and nights
I don't worry 'cause

Everything's gonna be alright

And people keep talking
They can say what they like
But all I know is

Everything's gonna be alright
'Cause no one, no one, no one
Can get in the way of what I'm feelin'
No one, no one, no one
Can get in the way of what I feel

I know

Some people search the world
To find

Something like what we have

I know people will try, try to divide, something so real
So 'til the end of time, I'm telling you there ain't no one

No one
No one
No one
Can get in the way
Of what I'm feelin'
Oh
No one
No one
No one
No one
Can get in the way
Of what I feel for you

[ Featuring Hell’s Kitchen Cast ]

Because now, now when something hurts
When I've got pain, when I've got rage
I know what to do with it
I go to the Ellington room
And I sit down at Miss Liza Jane's piano
And I play
All we can do is play
And the playing makes life a little easier to handle
And when I play, it all comes rushing back to me

Maleah Joi Moon - Empire State of Mind

Ooh, New York!
Ooh, New York!

Grew up in a town that is famous
As a place of movie scenes
Noise is always loud,
There are sirens all around
And the streets are mean
If I can make it here,
I can make it anywhere,
That's what they say
Seeing my face in lights or my name
In marquees found down on Broadway

Even if it ain't all it seems,
I got a pocketful of dreams
Baby I'm from New York!
Concrete jungle where dreams are made of
There's nothing you can't do
Now you're in New York!
These streets will make you feel brand new
Big lights will inspire you
Hear it for New York,
New York, New York!

On the avenue,
There ain't never a curfew,
Ladies work so hard
Such a melting pot,
On the corner selling rock,
Preachers pray to God
Hail a gypsy cab,
Takes me down from Harlem
To the Brooklyn Bridge
Someone sleeps tonight
With a hunger far more
Than an empty fridge

I'mma make it by any means,
I got a pocketful of dreams
Baby I'm from New York!
Concrete jungle where dreams are made of
There's nothing you can't do
Now you're in New York!
These streets will make you feel brand new
Big lights will inspire you
Hear it for New York,
New York, New York!

One hand in the air for the big city
Street lights, big dreams,
All looking pretty
No place in the world that can compare
Put your lighters in the air, everybody say
Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!

In New York!
Concrete jungle where dreams are made of
There's nothing you can't do
Now you're in New York!
These streets will make you feel brand new
Big lights will inspire you
Hear it from New York

Alicia Keys - Kaleidoscope

[ Featuring Maleah Joi Moon ]

Kaleido-leido-leido-leido-leidoscope
Tonight is shining bright, you know, oh yeah, oh no
So light it, light it, light it, light it, light it up
Put it in the air and let it go, oh yeah, oh no

Can you feel the love now?
I'm feelin' a buzz now
Never gonna come down
Piece it all together
Nights like this, they belong in the Guinness
Nights like this, never want them to finish

Don't wait for the end, let's start a beginning
Better to be alive than just to be living
Na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na (woo)
Na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na (Ali)

Kaleido-leido-leido-leido-leidoscope
Everyone looking high and low, oh yeah, oh no
You're movin', movin', movin', movin' way too slow
I think I got that antidote, oh yeah, oh no, huh

Can you feel the love now?
I'm feelin' a buzz now
Never wanna come down
Piece it all together
Nights like this, they belong in the Guinness
Nights like this, never want them to finish

Don't wait for the end, let's start a beginning
Better to be alive than just to be living (c'mon)
Na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na (yeah, ooh)
Na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na (ooh)
Don't wait for the end, let's start a beginning

Ooh, ooh
Yeah

You just open up your eyes
Don't let the colors fool you, baby
It's been inside you all this time, mm
Feel so good when it's all out (all out)
Runnin' through the dark 'til the sun's out (sun's out)
Baby, I'm ready for the fallout (fallout)
I don't know what to say, ayy, ayy
It's a kaleidoscope
I see your colors, baby (no, oh)
Make a kaleidoscope
With all your colors (I don't know what to say)
It's a kaleidoscope (hey)
I see your colors, baby
Make a kaleidoscope (yeah, yeah, oh)
With all your colors (baby)
It's a kaleidoscope
I see your colors, baby (I see your colors, baby)
Make a kaleidoscope (baby)
With all your colors (baby, baby)
It's a kaleidoscope
I see your colors, baby
Make a kaleidoscope
With all your colors

Don't wait for the end, let's start a beginning
Better to be alive than just to be living
