JOJI - Nectar Album Lyrics

JOJI - Nectar Lyrics

Ew

When it's lovely, I believe in anything
What does love mean when the end is rolling in?
Oh, let it go, let it stay, give me love when I'm not there
Cold, is it safe to be warm in the summer?
Who knows? (Who knows?)
I said who knows?

Ooh
Teach me to love just to let me go
I can't believe that I'm not enough
Not enough
And so long
No one will be here to save you
And no one will be here to let you know
Let you know

This is your world
(This is your world)
This is your world
(This is your world)

Quietly still, in a lie
Oh, goodnight
I don't mind

Ooh
Teach me to love just to let me go
I can't believe that I'm not enough
Not enough
And so long
No one will be here to save you
And no one will be here to let you know (let you know)

MODUS

Speed it up, slow it down
Need control, need it now
I need to live a thousand times
I cannot stop, I cannot cry
I will not fret, I will not die
I am machine, I stay alive
Sometimes I think, sometimes I think
Sometimes I think, sometimes I (woo)
I've got no aim, a million rounds
Is nothing real? A hunnid pounds
Of heavy steel, it feels so loud
Tied to my chest, it feels so loud
I'll take a peek to across the peaks
This grass is neat, I'm quite unique
But I'd like to be, but I'd like to be

And I hope this is the hardest part
We try, we try
And when they say they're satisfied
They're lying, they're lying
Do forgive me, I've seen the treasure is in the bloom
But right now I'm just not strong enough for you

Sorry, you can see it in my retina
Focus in and out, I'm doin' better
Artificial ghost with no perception
I wanna be a Chevy not a Sentra (yeah, yeah, yeah-yeah)
I don't feel the way they programmed me to feel today
Some pieces fallin' from the waist up, I'm so sorry for delays
Just need one moment to erase that burning pain before the rage
I feel good, I feel good, I feel good, I fixed it

And I hope this is the hardest part
We try, we try
And when they say they're satisfied
They're lying, they're lying
Do forgive me, I've seen the treasure is in the bloom
But right now I'm just not strong enough for you

And I hope this is the hardest part
We try, we try
And when they say they're satisfied
They're lying, they're lying
Do forgive me, I've seen the treasure is in the bloom
But right now I'm just not strong enough for you

Tick Tock

Yeah (oh)

Tick tock
Heavy like a Brinks truck
Looking like I'm tip-top
Shining like a wristwatch
Time will grab your wrist
Lock it down 'til the thing pop
Can you stick around for a minute til' the ring stop? Please God
Tick tock
Heavy like a Brinks truck
Looking like I'm tip-top
Shining like a wristwatch
Time will grab your wrist
Lock it down 'til the thing pop
Can you stick around for a minute til' the ring stops? Please God (please God)

As time keeps slippin' away (slipping away)
Girl, don't start feelin' a way (a way)
You and I, we are one in the same
Loving in pain, loving in
As time keeps slippin' away (slipping away)
Girl, don't start feelin' a way (a way)
You and I, we are one in the same
Loving in pain, loving in (the same)

Tick tock, gimme, gimme big bucks
That is all that I do, girl, I just hit the jackpot
I wish you were here with me now so I could feel some
I wish you were here to hold me down like a real one, real one
Live long, wanna be a big shot
Should've stayed away but always had a weak spot
I've been on the road, and I'm sorry for the mix up
If you still love me can you see me during liftoff, liftoff?

As time keeps slippin' away (slipping away)
Girl, don't start feelin' a way (a way)
You and I, we are one in the same
Loving in pain, loving in
As time keeps slippin' away (slipping away)
Girl, don't start feelin' a way (a way)
You and I, we are one in the same
Loving in pain, loving in (the same)

Daylight

Wide awake, getting half-past zero
It's getting heated so I leave the windows open (leave the windows open)
Preoccupied with a late night B-roll
Right now, laying here alone is heaven (here alone is heaven)

And I've been a hero
Helpless
I'm in hell
And I've cried up and down in these hallways
Blamed myself

Bad luck, I don't wanna be home at midnight
Sun's up, I don't really wanna fight the daylight
I don't care if you moved on
I'm not laying in bed with a f*cked up head
I'm not laying in bed with a f*cked up

Sun-dried on the backyard patio
Drunk eyes 'cause I didn't give it a home run
Yeah, yeah
You're hiding on the FM radio
I sing along just to sing my thoughts at someone
Yeah, yeah

And I've been a hero
Helpless
I'm in hell (I'm in hell)
And I've cried
Up and down in these hallways
Blamed myself

Bad luck, I don't wanna be home at midnight
Sun's up, I don't really wanna fight the daylight
I don't care if you moved on
I'm not laying in bed with a f*cked up head

Upgrade

Guess I'm flyin' international
We can meet, but no more lies at the Oriental
Ayy, ayy, now I'm so professional
I just need you one more time to get it right, you know

Won't you upgrade? I know it hurts
You deserve it, I know your worth
If you think you can't make it happen
We keep it optional (we keep it optional)
We don't make sense, we don't make sense
We don't make sense enough to give this time
But if you'll be mine
We keep it optional

(Ooh) yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
(Ooh) yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Gimme Love

Gimme, gimme love
Gimme, gimme love
Gimme, gimme love
Gimme, gimme love when I'm gone
When I'm gone
Gimme, gimme love
Gimme, gimme love
Gimme, gimme love
Gimme, gimme love when I'm gone
When I'm gone

Swinging out front, let me inside
Playing my song into my sides
It hurts, I can't lie, remember those times
I fought to get out? I want to get out
Those pictures so clear, they fade in my mind
You leavin' me here with ashes and fire
These people don't heal, these people don't feel
These people aren't real so make me this deal

Won't you gimme, gimme love
Gimme, gimme love
Gimme, gimme love
Gimme, gimme love when I'm gone
When I'm gone
Gimme, gimme love
Gimme, gimme love
Gimme, gimme love
Gimme, gimme love when I'm gone
When I'm gone

Look into your heart and let me know
Do things turn black and grey as they go?
When I'm far too gone, can you show me love?
Give me love
(Ooh)
(Ooh)
(Ooh)
(Ooh)

Caught in a river of records and dreams
Oh, will you keep up with me?
Everyone's looking for someone to hold
But I can't let you go
(Ooh)

NITROUS

(Oh) understand, girl, I'm out of sight
Turn the other side, I don't want no stripes
Got my insides loud like motorcycles
Girl, don't notice it, I don't notice it
And the love make me wanna sing, sing
And my heart make me wanna sing, sing
And the pain make me wanna blink, blink
But I'm in a Rover, I won't feel a thing

Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey

Guess I've been awake, thinking 'bout our fate
Fighting two devils, blood in my toothpaste
Spit into the night, thought it would be nice
You just make me nervous, you were cold as ice (you're cold)
I was in your town, drivin' eighty miles
Do not even notice, do not even frown
And how could I deserve this, I'm never slowin' down (never slowin' down)
Don't love me at the surface, love me like it's now (love me, love me, love me, love me)

(Oh) understand, girl, I'm out of sight
Turn the other side, I don't want no stripes
Got my insides loud like motorcycles

Normal People

The devil came back
He's dancing in your path
So you're acting like you need me now, hey
So tell me if I'm mad
There's something in your laugh
That makes me fear the way you smile, hey

It's hard to believe sometimes
We can pretend we're normal people
And I can repeat those times
We can pretend we're boring people
And it's hard to believe sometimes
We can pretend we're normal people
And I can repeat those times
And I can repeat those times, yeah

New planet, yeah, we planted
Everything we wanted
Your fragrance, covalence
I'm bound to, I'm bound to you
The longer that we hide
Everything starts to hit me harder, hit me harder
But we're safe on the inside
Yeah, I know we're fine

The devil came back
He's dancing in your path
So you're acting like you need me now, hey
So tell me if I'm mad
There's something in your laugh
That makes me fear the way you smile, hey

It's hard to believe sometimes
We can pretend we're normal people
And I can repeat those times
We can pretend we're boring people

Afterthought

Lately, I've been slippin' away from you
Can you tell me, does it hurt today?
Yeah, there's no way, yeah (no way, no way, no way)
To burn, there's no flames, yeah (there's no flames)
Praying nine to five like a saint for you (like a saint)
Can you tell me how it turned this way? (How?)
Yeah, things have changed, yeah (yeah)
Yeah, filled with rage, yeah (filled with rage)

So lost in these diamonds
So lost in this paradise
Don't speed on that highway
We need you to shine bright
When life gets too complicated
Please stand with me after dark
I'll stay in the limelight
Like a beautiful afterthought
Like a beautiful afterthought

Sometimes, you'd ask me for something different
Hated when you did it, I wish that you didn't
I would do things and you'd get annoyed
I should've never done them, I wish I was different
Why do we have to step away now?
It's been a year, been a couple days now
Since you called me sayin' you're worried
Been hard for me dealin' with this space now
No company, wishin' we could sit down
'Cause I'm sorry, but you don't want me

So lost in these diamonds
So lost in this paradise
Don't speed on that highway
We need you to shine bright
When life gets too complicated
Please stand with me after dark
I'll stay in the limelight
Like a beautiful afterthought
Like a beautiful afterthought

I don't wanna forget about you
I don't wanna forget about you, oh
I don't wanna forget about you
I don't wanna think about it

"Mr. Hollywood, won't you come back soon?"

She said, "Mr. Hollywood, won't you come back soon? (Ayy, ayy)
She said, "Mr. Hollywood, won't you come back soon? (Ayy, ayy)

We don't gotta love each other right
We just gotta make it through the night
You don't gotta say
You're not into me no more
When we pass out on the floor
See the sunrise through the door
By the way you move, I know you want me to
Tell you all the rules, I know I'm searching too
Give me all your clues and things to guide me through
The end of the world, the end of the world
Don't blow out the fuse when darkness comes to light
So much I could do to make you come to life
Fingers coming loose, I see there's no more time
Don't tell me I'm gone, don't tell me I'm gone

She said, "Mr. Hollywood, won't you come back soon?" (Ayy, ayy)
She said, "Mr. Hollywood, won't you come back soon? (Ayy, ayy)

We were never the same, are you outta your mind?
I don't like strings, no, no ties
I don't wanna keep you dreamin', you waste your time
I don't need strings, no, no lies

You needed somethin' to believe in
Two hundred miles in the evening
Super speeding, are you leaving right now?
When I pretend that I'm your boyfriend
I'll pour the drinks, so don't annoy me
Are you lonely?
'Cause I'll be gone 'til the next when the sun's up
Blame it on me, you can blame it on me
Feelin' your touch and I'm feelin' so sweet (ayy)
Blame it on me, you can blame it on me
Never turn back when I'm goin' full speed (woo)

Ooh, live fast, ride fast like two hundred on the dashboard
Ooh, it's my way, my way, even if it is a crash course
Ooh, live fast, ride fast like two hundred on the dashboard
Ooh, no, I can't slow down, I just wanna go fast, baby

Work, work, work, work, work
Switchin' lanes, doin' work (switchin' lanes, doin' work)
All I hear is heavy metal (all I hear is heavy metal)

The sun is not the brightest thing
The choir sings to an empty world of finer things
Even though it burns, you drown and sink
You know I am

Washing over you
Washing over you

You can do this all night, it's not up to me
But it's alright if it makes you feel good
You can do this all night, but it's not up to me

Like You Do

Lately
I can't help but think that our roads might take us down different phases
Don't wanna complicate the rhythm that we got but I'm speechless
When everything's so pure, can it be aimless?
Painless?

If you ever go
All the songs that we like
Will sound like bittersweet lullabies

Lost in the blue
They don't love me like you do
Those chills that I knew
They were nothing without you
And everyone else
They don't matter now
You're the one I can't lose
No one loves me like you do

Since I met you
All the gloomy days just seem to shine a little more brightly
Consider what we've got 'cause I can never take you for granted
Is there another us on this whole planet?
Planet?

If you ever go
All the songs that we like
Will sound like bittersweet lullabies

Lost in the blue
They don't love me like you do
Those chills that I knew
They were nothing without you
And everyone else
They don't matter now
You're the one I can't lose
No one loves me like you do
No one loves me like you do

I don't wanna seem foolish
When I'm jumping into this
You're all that I see

Lost in the blue
They don't love me like you do
Those chills that I knew
They were nothing without you
And everyone else
They don't matter now
You're the one I can't lose
No one loves me like you do

It features the singles "Sanctuary", "Run", "Gimme Love", "Daylight" with Diplo, and "Your Man", as well as collaborations with Benee, Lil Yachty, Omar Apollo, Yves Tumor and Rei Brown.

In an interview with GQ, Joji revealed how the album's title was chosen, which first came to his mind after finding dead ants in his freezer and joking about titling the album Nectar. He intended to make love songs with a "slightly darker twist" for the album, along with critiquing materialism, citing "Pretty Boy" as a song about making fun of lifestyles similar to it.
